Oh, I used to babysit. And made great money too.
FiRST off:
make creative flyers to get people’s attention.
you can even take scrapbook paper and really go for it.
put them up at local country clubs, golf courses, ect.
^ that’s where the rich people hang out, so they pay well.
trust me :]
the best kind of flyer would catch the eye.
who would you pick?
the boring million white papers..
or the bright green/blue one?
also, you want to get a 1″notebook and have a “quick info sheet” in it. [things like, bedtime routines, allergies, next-door neihbors, sp? information, emergency numbers, anything you can think of]
print off 10 of those sheets and put them in sheet protectors to start off with. this will show the parents that you are responsible.
*other tips- try and go to the YMCA. they have a babysitting certification class that you can take. it helps alot! and, you can say that you are “babysitting certified” on your flyers.
HOPE THAT HELPED :]

Annabel and ED both have great ideas and you should print out their replies. Reading classical literature is what Tolkien did to spark his books.
Those people who say writers should read, read, read, in the genre they write are mouthing a cliche and are not writers themselves. Reading other genres will help more. If you read Rowling and Tolkien you will find yourself writing in magic rings and wands - yawn … Your job is to avoid being a ‘me too’ writer. You need to think very hard about what makes your unique style and ideas (aka your ‘voice̵
different and better than Rowling et al,. Yes, you must be better than her to get published.
Your ‘voice’ is one of your most valuable assets as a serious writer (ie a published one). It distinguishes you from the others. If you read too much in your genre, your voice will not have a chance to develop. Publishers do not want another wannabe Rowling. They want the next big seller. Discerning readers of your genre got over Rowling years ago and they are looking for the next big idea.
Great writing requires a very smart mind accustomed to serious thought. It’s incredibly difficult to write original sentences. For example, when you start writing, if what appears on your screen is a well known phrase, delete it, if it sounds like something HP would say, delete it, if there is a magic ring or wand in it, delete it. What’s left may be original, if there is anything left.
Write about unusual real things that happened to you in your life, or your family’s, or on the news, then place them in your fantasy setting. Don’t invent games where kids on broom sticks chase a ball somewhere - even if you change it to a frisbee it’s still JK Rowling.
Once you have a manuscript, you have finished half your work. Then come back to Books and Authors for advice on finding a literary agent and publisher.

A nicer answer:
When electricity passes through anything, there is a certain amount of resistance. The force that it takes to make the current run through this resistance is the voltage. If there is higher resistance, you need a higher voltage. Water is a good conductor (meaning that there is less resistance) and is better than air. A human body is also a good conductor (because of the water in us). A copper wire is very good, and gold is even better. But there is still a level of resistance. When anything in the world encounters resistance, the force behind it creates heat as that object is forced through. You can feel the heat on your hands when you rub them on your pants. Same thing. That is why copper becomes hot and people receive burns when electrocuted. Make sense?
Oh and when the news says that someone got zapped with say 15,000 volts, you need to know the amount of current or amps to really know what that means. Current is what kills you, that is what stops your heart. The voltage is just the punch behind it. It hurts, but without the current, you should live through it. It only takes a tiny tiny bit of current to kill you, but you can live through a heck of a lot of voltage.
